8月11日は「山の日」で、国民の祝日です。2016年に始まった、新しい祝日です。山を楽しんで、山からもらうものに感謝する日だと決められています。今年の山の日は火曜日です。お盆の休みが近いので、山や田舎へ出かける人が多くなります。しかし、夏の山は危険もあります。警察庁の発表によると、2025年に山で遭難した人は3623人で、今までで一番多くなりました。亡くなった人と行方が分からない人は332人です。一番多い原因は道に迷うことで、全体の約3割です。外国から来た人の遭難も246人で、こちらも一番多い数でした。山に登る前には、「登山届」という計画の紙を出して、天気予報を調べましょう。水や雨具、暖かい服も忘れないでください。
