強い台風18号「ソウデル」が、日本の南の海を北西へ進んでいます。気象庁によると、24日ごろには「非常に強い」台風になる見込みです。25日に大東島地方を通り、26日には沖縄本島にかなり近づくおそれがあります。27日ごろは宮古島や八重山にも近づくかもしれません。26日の予想では、最大風速は40メートル、最大瞬間風速は55メートルです。沖縄の旧盆は25日から27日までなので、お墓参りや親せきの集まりに影響が出そうです。飛行機やフェリーが欠航することもあります。台風が来る前に、ベランダの物を片づけて、水や食べ物を用意しておきましょう。
